Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
