Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He saved four initial break points in a close final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
