Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, generating wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Impact
Locals reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, around one thousand households in Victoria also experienced energy failures after Melbourne saw its wettest day in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

At one point on yesterday, more than 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent storm activity anticipated across different parts of both states.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.
